BOS to "Penny Lane," easy as that.  I've been asked by a couple people why this is my favorite Beatles song, and really, it all comes down to that piccolo trumpet, perhaps the most joyous sound I have ever heard in my life, and always suggestive of something great and wondrous beyond these things.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Have any of you ever heard Scottie's follow-up, "Heard It in an Old-Time Movie"?  I've never heard it, but since it's apparently also a John Phillips co-write, I imagine it's somewhat similar.

Meanwhile, VVHM to "Fire," some of my favorite Jimi lyrics.

(with an extra HM to those studio-overweighted maracas -- don't suppose Davy played them?)

I'm going to have to tune out in a minute, Bebe Neuwirth is on the morning show.

VHM for the Monkees!

If I've heard it it was (maybe) once back in the day -- it didn't get substantial airplay in NYC.

Another VHM: Tommy James foretells the "down low" phenomenon with "I Think We're Alone Now."

we've been having our Reg Guys meetings in the Kensington Park hotel lately, to which the Post St Theater is attached -- that's where her show is. One of my friends ran into her in the lobby.

VHM "Expressway..." -- white boy soul (or at least I think the lead singer was white) at it's finest.

"I been tryin' to get (in)to you for a loooong time..."

another longer version with a different coda -- I've never heard that before.

another VHM to Dr Smith! What a hilarious promo.

"oh good heavens I've made pun"

Oh the pain... the PAIN!
