Kudos for the ID on that one, Herr Gaz--I had not a clue. Gotta like the way AL is jumpstarting the week with a blast o' da funk.
Let's get right to it.

WOS for Winning, and another shrug of cluelessness for whatever this following it. Sounds familiar, can't place it.

Another one out of the vaults--This Town by the Go-gos. VHM there, but no love for Styx, Too Much Time On My Hands.
Let's get right to it.

And the play-by-play continues: Soft Cell telling us all about their taint. But is it the l-o-o-o-o-o-o-n-g version?

ETA: Not.  Instead, we get unheezed by a different K.C.

I'm gobsmacked, but I really shouldn't be -- AL keeps playing tunes I begged Dave for. Peter Wolf last week, and now this.  I'll be sure to catch the replay tonite, even tho' KPOO is doing a Cameo/Parkway special. And TANC: Judge is playing The Gap Band as I type this (tho' it's "Early in the Morning", not "Burn Rubber").

3/1/10 - MONDAY!!  Gettin' Funky in...'81!!!

   1.  Carl Carlton- She's a Bad Mama Jama (She's Built, She's Stacked)
(Movie:  Stripes)
   2.  The Gap Band- Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)
   3.  Gary U.S.Bonds-This Little Girl
(TV-SNL Belushi-Gold Medal Winner)
   4.  Santana- Winning
   5.  The Teardrop Explodes-Passionate Friend
   6.  The Go-Go's- This Town
(News:  Bohemian Grove)
   7.  Styx - Too Much Time on My Hands
(News:  Reagan)
   8.  King Crimson - Elephant Talk (B.O.S!!)
   9.  Soft Cell - Tainted Love
  10. Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes

Holy crap -- Teardrop Explodes, too? Now I really *am* gobsmacked.
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

caught the set on the replay -- despite 2 uber-Katrinas (Santana and Kim C), a superb collection. Hadn't heard that Go-Gos tune in ages, and the Teardrop Explodes song was NTM and an instant fave.  But I gotta say: the King Crimson is a rather shameless Talking Heads ripoff, no?

And I loved the seg from Bohemian Grove rich guys to "Too Much Time On My hands".

I woulda been gobsmacked after hearing the Go-Go's tune, but I'll have to wait for Saturday morning now.  That whole album still stands up well, top to bottom.
