OMG! uber-BOS2 the fabulous Edwyn Collins, "A Girl Like You"

He's got that pseudo-Bowie inflection down, but it's catchy nonetheless.

Not Ziggy, Iggy: per Wiki, he's actually trying to channel Mr Pop.

But AL agrees with you, urth -- is she lurking?

Wiki is entitled to its opinion, but I still say he's aping Mr. Jones. And AL concurs.
Let's get right to it.

Could be, but I think she could've figured that out on her own, too. I can't be the first one to make that conclusion.

for some reason I never realized he's sampling the drums from Len Barry's "1-2-3".

It's one of those that straddles both years. Entered the charts in Oct of '95, stayed for 26(!) weeks, peaked at #5.  Btw, most of its 10@10 appearances have been in '95.

All that said, I'm just as glad I missed it. Really don't like that song.

WOS Deep Blue Something

a 1995 request that would fit the format and I wouldn't mind hearing but hasn't been played:
Collective Soul - December

and, would love to hear on 10@10 but probably won't:
Paula Abdul - Crazy Cool (seriously, IMHO her best song)

I actually thought it was Bowie the first time I heard it; "finally, a return to form," I thought for a minute.

BOS to Jayhawks, Morphine's "Honey White," and Elastica.  This set had many of my favorites of the year.

That's who I always heard in this, Iggy, that is.

I heard the whole set while driving this morning & really liked it.  As with Gaz, many of my favorites of '95 were present and accounted for.  I think this was the best 1995 set we've ever heard, but with the disclaimer that the bar has never been set very high.

I agree. As much as I'm disappointed when the wheel lands on a '90s year, this worked well, and as is usually the case with good '90s sets, it was dominated by Live 105 staples that KFOG ignored when they were current.

Loved this set!   ;D  Another trip down Hits 106 memory lane...they spun the heck out of all of them except the Jayhawks and Morphine.

BOS - Matthew Sweet.  First song I've heard by him...and first time I've heard that song in 14 years.  I just about jumped out of my seat when it came on.

VHM - Garbage and Edwyn Collins.  Both played to death as recurrents on just about every AAA and Alt. station these days, but still very good nonetheless.

WOS - Jayhawks.  Never was a fan of this song to begin with, but then the Thorns totally murdered it with a remake that somehow didn't sound that much different than the original.

DHM - Gin Blossoms.  I don't even think they can even tell the difference between any of their songs.
