Jeff Healy gets a WOS from me.

Mike & the Mechanics...hmm.  Love the lyrics, love the music.  But they don't go together quite so well.  It ends up sounding cornball, esp. with the children singing the chorus.  Still, I agree he means well.  Worth a VHM.

BOS Mike/Mechanics. Truly lovely, after all these years it still gets me a bit choked up. Honest sentiment, as opposed to sap. Rare in a pop hit.

Me too, my relationship with my own dad was like that the first half of my life, but it's been great for years now.

Sledgehammer for the Tian An Men massacre clip.  In '94 I made my first trip to China & we met a woman whose brother was killed there.  No explanation given to the family - just told to pick up the body from the police station.

I know a lot of people who are suckers for this M+tM song.  I'm not one of them.  WOS3.

I *am* one of them.  And when you're older, you may feel differently, my friend.

BOS the Cure!

ETA: I saw them live that year, and it was backstage that their new keyboard player dished on the P-Furs as being "talentless wankers" on a live over the air mike.  Somebody asked about that last week.

BOS to Neil Young!  This is SO much better than the watered down acoustic version, which radio stations seem to play 99% of the time.  (The only other time I've heard the real version is on an alt. station in San Diego!)

and BOS2 to the Cure...my favorite song by them.

Every generation
blames the one before

the first lines of this song remind me of when I overheard a young couple at a restaurant talking about politics. They were very fired up about the upcoming Presidential election and I heard one say "It's up to US to fix this thing.  The generation before us didn't do it..."

it's Orinoco Flacco!

This is a pretty Flacco set, I'd have to say.  I couldn't stand most of this stuff in the 80's, and I'm still not fond of most of it.  I do have an appreciation for the Cure now, though they were near the top of my list of whiny white boy music that I couldn't tolerate.
