I'm home with a feverish 3-year old who is downstairs watching a DVD.

As usual- you win.

I don't even remember this 'Rat in the Kitchen' song- but I was pretty distracted in '86....

ooo! Dave IS in a mood.

Think you're right. He's due for a vacation soon, but I don't mind the editorial content in the mean time.
Let's get right to it.

I would have preferred "Sing Our Own Song"

Oh, yay! Sting's here to tell us how bad nuclear war is! He saved us all back in the 80s! Hurray for Sting!

I'm having a crappy Tuesday. I hope it gets better.

OMG, Dave has answered one of my prayers!  It's "Rat In Mi Kitchen"!

Pop quiz, (assuming he doesn't play an edited version), who does the trumpet solo at the end of this?

UB40, title track.  This is a great album, start to finish, & terribly underrated in the US.

LOL! Right on. I mean, I hope he feels better soon and all but the mental image of you Tom-Cruising around your livingroom singing "Old Time Rock & Roll" has cheered me up considerably.

I am actually still in my pajama pants (the ones I got for Christmas, dark red flannel with little snowflakes, stars & rheindeers on 'em) & a t-shirt.  Before I was blowin' the air-trumpet, but now I gotta go do the Robert Palmer sexy-babe two step!

BOS #3, Mick Hucknall's timeless vocals.  I remember being stunned to find out he was not only white, but a curly-red-haired Brit.

btw, we've had Simple Minds & Simply Red in this set, any other tie-ins possible?

Hey, when dogs start buying albums? The industry will write lyrics that apply to them.

one of the perks of being on A&M -- ya never knew when the head of the label would want to contibute a bit o' trumpet to yer LP. Just ask Janet (Miss Jackson if yer nasty).

Woo Hoo, Lyle Lovett, "You Can't Resist It". BOS #4!  From his eponymous debut album.

This has been a far-better-than-average 1986 set.  Even this Bryan Adams & Tina Turner duet is sounding better than usual in this mix.
