8 December 2009--it's 1971
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:03:15 AM »
Only a two year jump from yesterday's '69!!

AL promises Attica, and Nilsson's The Point. Meanwhile, we've got The Stampeders' proto-country rock OHW.  Bon c'est bon, c'est bon bon etc.

Here's another for you banjo list.  Definitely a Dave fave that I've never heard anywhere else.

I def remember this from Top 40 radio when I was in 6th grade. But not much since then 'til Dave picked it up.

Well HERE'S an ATBB: BOS1 Carole King--deep track from Tapestry?

Holee crap! BOS Ms King's great "Beautiful", one of the ones from Tapestry you never hear.  Someone needs to do a hi-NRG dance version of this one. Seriously.

And once again, AL remedies a Dave shortcoming: his short-shrift-ing of Tapestry was a major pet peeve of mine.

Very nice one.  Sounds like the inspiration for several Carly Simon songs (like "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be").

VHM Ringo narrating the Point, and BOS2 to Harry N and "Me and My Arrow." Did this chart?  (Guess AL doesn't have any secret source for the orig. Dustin Hoffman narrated version. I think that one must be lost to the ages.)

I hear tinges of the Finn Bros in this. Suspect they were big into Nilsson.
