7 December 2009--it's 1969!!!
« on: December 07, 2009, 10:04:00 AM »
Rioting in the Sesame Street promised. But first...Big Mac! Black Magic Woman, Proxy of Geoff!

And a BOS from me too. FMac, back when they were a blues band.

White snow in the East Bay hills, and Black Magic Woman on SF radio.

And Crystal Blue Persuasion making it a 1-2 for the BOS votes.

ETA: I wonder if this is one of those sets where Annalisa does a mini-thme to lead in.  How many other 'color-songs' are there from '69?

maybe Green River or Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town?

"Fleetwood Mac... the Cadillac of hamburgers!"

AL sure loves her some '60s -- she always seems genuinely excited when it's a year from that decade. Proxy of geoff: the orig "Black Magic Woman".

BOS "Crystal Meth Persuasion"

I have a different mix of "Crystal Blue Persuasion" in which the final verse is punctuated with trumpet in between the lines: "Maybe tomorrow (ba-ba-buh-buh-bap-buh, bap-buh, bap-buh)..."  It's better that way.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

An ATBB for Tommy Roe, and kinda surprising, since this was a #1 hit.  BOS #3 & a pre-emptive OMGWTFLOL for Mike.

It's a Tommy twin spin! First James, now Roe, gettin' Dizzy.

Wish I had a buck for every time this song modulates to a different key.
Let's get right to it.

BOS1 to Jeremy Lloyd on the Laugh-In Joke Wall.  Although it should have been Goldie leading in to "Dizzy."

Trivia: Roe pitched this to the Four Tops (!) before recording it himself.

remember the last time we went to 1969, and Annalisa played the Python's original Dead Parrot sketch, and I reported that I had called her, and she told me she had a bunch of Laugh-In material ready to go, but went with the Python's instead?

O. M. F. G.

Bustout of the month goes to Mama Cass's take on "Easy Come, Easy Go."  The bubblegum went down easier when Bobby Sherman took a crack at it.

My mom used to sing this all the time, so I def give it BOS3.
