Where would you like your ashes scattered?

Where would you like your ashes scattered?
Last weekend the Washington Post published an article about unusual places people have chosen to scatter a loved one's ashes. The article focuses on sporting venues, such as baseball fields, football stadiums and golf courses. Officials at some locations don't object, but others turn away requests. "We just haven't been in the business of accommodating that because I don't know that we're in a position of encouraging that," said John Heisler, a spokesman for the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.  But some fans won't be denied. According to the Post article by Liz Clarke:

Only the truly bold attempt it on national TV, as did 44-year-old Christopher Noteboom during a 2005 Philadelphia Eagles-Green Bay Packers game. After considering a random toss onto the field when no one was looking, Noteboom threw caution (and a bit of his mother, a lifelong Eagles fan) to the wind and charged toward midfield, kneeled at the 30-yard line, let spill the contents of his plastic bag and blurted out, "This is for you, Mom!"  He was promptly escorted off and charged with defiant trespass.

Sounds like a Philly fan to me. So, how about it? Would you make AT&T Park or another venue your field of dreams?

That Wash. Post article:

Haven't decided where I'd like to be scattered yet, but I'm hoping I have a few years yet to think about it. Nothing's certain of course, but I'm hoping.

I am shocked, however, that the article makes no mention whatsoever of singer-songwriter Steve Goodman (City of New Orleans), who somehow managed to have his request for a final resting place granted by the Chicago Cubs, and had some of his ashes buried at home plate in Wrigley Field. I have heard this enough times from a variety of sources that it is fairly common knowledge (at least among music and Cubs fans).

I do not however, want my ashes scattered at Willie Mays Field (or whatever it's called when I get around to checking out). I think that'd be kind of creepy for the players, knowing human remains were floating around on their playing field.
Let's get right to it.

My request is simple: I just want my ashes scattered over the Pacific Ocean.

At some point I should make a legal document of this kind of stuff.

Scatter my ashes over Al Davis's grave.

 ;D

(but seriously, probably off a bridge into and around the Merced river, the bridge near the Ahwahnee, with the great view of Half Dome)

not sure what the rules are about such substances inside the National Park system, seriouosly, it bears checking.  The last thing you want is a haz mat citation in the event.

Had a recent convo with my folks about this - they were prepared to leave their remains entirely to the University of Kansas, and there would have been nothing for my bros & me to deal with.  I talked them out of that to the extent that after KU is done, we get the ashes (& the responsibility for whatever to do with them).  I then suggesed we go to Haleakela on Maui, site of a long-lived memory from their honeymoon.  My brother Chris said that this was a great idea, and important enough that we should try to arrange for a dress rehearsal in the near term, i.e. a family reunion on Maui while none of us have yet departed this mortal coil.

I'd like to be blasted in to space aboard a craft that will jettison my ashes out into the vacuum of the universe, so they can perhaps collect with other astral matter and then form a comet that will travel the expanse and put on a light show and delight whoever might remain on this or any other inhabited planet.

That's beautiful.
