and from Bob Hope's singer, it sounds like Agnew was the Joe Biden of his day, except in the opposite direction...

Er... no.  Biden runs off at the mouth in a harmless way. Agnew was a right-wing hitman, reading speeches written by Pat Buchanan. BIG difference.

Kinda reminds me of Edgar Winter's "Free Ride".  Great song, but the drums in particular are really compressed.

Jimmy Guercio (Chicago's producer for their first half-dozen or so records) was not exactly George Martin. I'd hope they've done some remixes on their early records by now, but I don't know for sure.
