Gloria!

Alleluia!  BOS!  Only time I'll ever give BOS to a Diane Warren song.

it's an Italian song -- did Warren do the translation?

Oops, my bad: Warren wrote "Solitaire," not "Gloria."

BOS3 the Durannies, "Rio".
I like "Rio"; it's got some great bass work in there.

OMG!  My favorite song by my favorite band...Someone Somewhere in Summertime!  ;D (Barely edging out See the Lights.)  BOS of the year.

yes!  it is a great song, but hearing New Gold Dream would have been a big kick for me.  that's my fave SM song.

This may have been the most Morey-like set Annalisa's done in the 2 1/2 months she's been on the job. Even the bonus track was a Dave fave (and probably a bigger K than anything else she played): Talk Talk by (of course) Talk Talk.

Oh, and a quick note of welcome to the two "new guys" here--always good to get some fresh blood in the conversation, and having a couple of 80s fans will liven things up here for sure.

Yesterday's set was also kinda Dave-ish (except for the welcome Mink DeVille bustout). I hope the suits haven't been on AL's case for being too obscure.  The instrumental set tomorrow will be interesting. I sent her some never-played-by-Dave suggestions:

Herbie Hancock: "Rockit"
Harold Faltermeyer: "Axel F" (from "Beverly Hills Cop")
Focus: "Sylvia"
They Might Be Giants: "Dog on Fire" (aka the closing theme from "The Daily Show" -- not sure how hard that is to find)
Mike Post, "Hill Street Blues"

I made a suggestion as well, one that Dave played just once, but I'm keepin' it a secret until tomorrow.

Now THAT'S what AHM talkin' 'bout! "Gloria" rules.  I remember being in my car one evening in '82 and hearing it for the first time and thinking "Awesome! a new Donna Summer single!" And then the jock said it was Laura Branigan and I said "Laura who??" -- I was stunned that it wasn't Ms. Summer.
