That's too bad. The Raiders were one of my fave 'second tier' of '60's bands, liked their humor as well as garage band sound.  Others in my 'second tier' (good bands, just not in first tier, in terms of popularity and influence then) would be the Turtles, Monkees, Ventures, Traffic, Righteous Bros, Tommy James & Shondells, Jan & Dean, Grass Roots, Dave Clark 5, Hermans Hermits.  'First tier' = Beatles, Stones, Who, Cream, Beach Boys, Hendrix, Janis, Doors, Motown and Stax acts, James Brown, Kinks, Yardbirds, CCR, Mamas & Papas, Roy Orbison, Four Seasons.

I like your tier way of looking at things.  Perhaps a new thread?

I'd be into this.  But my tiers are inverted: tier 1 includes Beatles, JA/JS, Turtles, Monkees, Grass Roots; tier 2 includes Ms&Ps, Tommy James, Association, Paul Revere, Four Seasons ... Will give this some more thought sometime.
