The unmistakable voice of Gerry Rafferty.  A Stealer's Wheel breakout?  I've never heard this before, at any rate.

AAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHH! MY EARS!!!!!!!

WOS to "Get Down," insipid songwriting even for a second-rate Leo Sayer (who at least had vocal range).

I am shocked and disappointed  Silly, yes (it's about a dog, for chrissakes), but a catchy pop ditty IMHO.

Dave's played this often enough. the follow-up to "Stuck in the Middle", as you can tell.

I've heard it before, but somehow it really strikes me today.  Off to search for a download.

HM for ZOOM & those damn stripey rugby shirts.

I remember Zoom more than the Electric Co. That was local here was it not? I think I wanted to be a Zoom kid.

I wanted to be on Romper Room.  Anyone else watch that?

yes -- in the early '60s. Didn't realize it was still around for your childhood.  Do bee Do bee Do!

I wanted the teacher to say my name soooo badly. I had Romper Stompers. Cup like things with plastic rope attached so you could walk around on them.

Reading all that just eroded my productivity. Not that I mind!

Hey Urth, any chance you archived this one last night?  If recent history is any guide it'll show up again about 7:45 on Saturday morning, which is probably before you like to wake up.

Well, I turned on the recorder around 9 before I left to go see Gang of Four, and shut it off when I got home. So yeah, barring technological fuckup (which has been known to happen), I should have it.
Let's get right to it.

How was Gang Of Four?  I was just listening to a bunch of their stuff the last couple of days.

It probably goes without saying, but I'm definitely interested in adding that '73 set to my collection.

Was reading back thru this thread while putting the 73 set to disc, and realized I never followed up on this post. Apologies--the past few weeks at work have been a bit, ummm, trying, due to a reorganization that was not a terribly popular decision with the rank and file. (No danger of losing job, but just a lot of disgruntled coworkers.) Anyway, as a result, I've got lots more work to accomplish in my day, and can't interact here as much as I'd always like to. Boo.

Gang of Four were pretty good for a bunch of middle-aged guys. Played with lots of energy and conviction. Jon King kept the beat for one song by beating time on an old microwave oven with a bat--reduced both the microwave and the bat to shards by the end of the song.  They hit most of the songs I wanted to hear (nearly all of Entertainment!) but inexplicably left out I Love a Man in Uniform. (Heard they had played it the night before though.) Gaz, if you can work it into your budget, I highly recommend seeing these blokes when they make it to NY. And I gather that Entertainment! is due for a Rhino rerelease in the next month or so with added tracks etc.

And yeah, I got you guys covered for this set.
Let's get right to it.
