I gotta see if that's avail on "KQED on Demand" -- caught his last special on HBO recently ("That Stuff'll Kill Ya" I think it was called) and he was cranky and cantakerous to the end.  The stairs quote is from a comedian (forget who) that did a Carlin parody some years back.

update: Check the KTEH On Demand sked -- that's where I saw it, not KQED.
