The Peak, 5/5/09: 1979

The 79 streak continues...

Ain't That A Shame?

No, b/c it's by Cheap Trick. ;D

I also head some of Randy Newman's It's Money That I Love  (B side to It's Money That Matters?)

and I caught Ian Gomm's Hold On -- I've always liked this one, his voice.  Qualifies as a OHW?

The Doobies are Dependin' On You, to get to #25 on the pop charts with this cut from Minute By Minute.

(Title cut made it to #14 and What a Fool Believes made it to #1, per wiki, both songs powered by the buttery warble of Michael "Yammo Be There" McDonald)

here's Mike's new wave:

The Shirts    Laugh and Walk Away

I don't know them that well, but The Shirts made an appearance in another 79 set recently, didn't they?

Rob's the only guy who plays the Shirts; a quntessential CBGBs band. Their lead singer, Annie Golden, went on to an acting career (she played a Ted Danson love interest on Cheers at one point).

Have we discussed Annie here before?  She's a friend of my friend Chuck, an indie film producer, and has starred in two of his films.  I met her shortly after moving here, though I forget the circumstances.

OMG! No, you hadn't mentioned it afaik.  Have you ever heard her fab Faux-Town contribution to the 16 Candles sndtk? "Hang Up the Phone" -- a wonderful song that shoulda been a big hit.
