15 April 2009: Happy Tax Day
« on: April 15, 2009, 10:02:30 AM »
no teabagging allowed!  BOS1 Kinks

this would appear to be the set from 2 years ago?

ETA: picturing skinny li'l Ray Davies with a "big fat mama" is always amusing.

Or four years ago. 2005 and 2007's Tax Day sets both began with Sunny Afternoon. I'd prefer '05.

ETA: Looks like you were right. In 05, the Flying Lizard's Money was in the #2 slot. In 07 Barrett Strong came before the FL's.

Did people actually do that tea-party thing, or was that a wholly Fox-created faux-nomenon?

it's a faux-nomenon (great phrase, that!) and I've yet to see a news story about this "700 city protest"

This may be the 2007 set, in which Dave counted the 2 "Money"s as one song.

uber-BOS2 James McMurtry. They don't play angry protest songs here any more.

BOS James McMurtry "We Can't Make It Here Anymore."  This one is resonating more now than it did two years ago.
Let's get right to it.

Although VHM to "For the Love of Money".  Oh, a live version of the McMurtry track is still available for free:  http://www.lightningrodrecords.com/cantmakeithere.php

VHM to Randy Newman, but I'd prefer his Mr. President (Have Pity On the Working Man).

Dave's love of JJ (and crappy courts shows generally) has always disappointed me. Less Judge Judy, more human interaction, dave.
