Julian Cope - World Shut Your Mouth

if only Dave (or anybody) would play Cope's old band The Teardrop Explodes, whose "When I Dream" was one of the great New Wave OHWs.

I got a JC/TTDE best of comp when Tower went out of business, but had filed it & forgotten it until just a few days ago.

This thread led me to discover "Ha Ha, I'm Drowning," which I instantly adore.

My work on earth is done!

"When I Dream" was big alt-radio hit in NY, but when I brought it to one of our music-sharing parties (at the princess' old SF apt) no one else had ever heard of it.

also noticed this morning that we heard PG's "Big Time" twice this week -- in '86 on Mon and '87 on Thurs.

Completely missed that. Probably because most of us tuned out and listened to the LA set instead. But I guess it's legal in both years--it was released in '86 but peaked at #8 in January of '87.

I feel a little disloyal, but given the spate of latter-80s sets lately, it's good to have an option rather than hearing C'est La Vie for the umpteenth time.
