breakitup breakitup breakitup! Judge plays Kurtis Blow's "The Breaks" -- rap when it was actually amusing and fun.

"Ma Bell sent you a whopping bill
with 18 phone calls to Brazil!"

I still have this 45 with part 1 on the A-side and part 2 on the flip.

Judge unearths an oddity: Johnny "Guitar" Watson, "We Got a Love Jones" -- same melody as the Emotions' "Don't Ask My Neighbors" but completely diff lyric.

Judge lets me hear "Soul Makossa" for the 3rd time this month. And now he's playing a version of "Give Me Your Love" by The Sisters Love (who?) -- I know the Curtis Mayfield orig, and the Barbara Mason cover that Curtis produced, but this is NTM.

OMG! Judge plays the orig version of "Can't Hide Love" by Creative Source -- they did it several years before EW&F.  Gaz would like this one, methinks.

Followed by the Ohio Players' "Funky Worm" -- tell it, granny!

JJ plays a soul version of "Walk Right In" by the Moments! NTM; I grew up with the very white Rooftop Singers version.

a fab CG retro-chart from 1966: a cover of "Just Like a Woman" by Manfred Mann that's NTM, the Troggs fab forgotten "With a Girl Like You", The Who's "I'm a Boy", and a Sonny & Cher rarity, "Little Man" (no it's not about Sonny, har har).

oh and at #1: the Small Faces with "All or Nothing", also NTM.

Lawd! Lee Dorsey is so tired of workin' in a coal mine! (I guess it's not "sonic blackface" if you're actually, er, black).

and he's followed by one ofthe great "WTF?" records of all time: Napoleon XIV, "There Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-ha!"
