When Dave played the "Blossom" theme this morning, I nearly posted "Not to be confused with Blossom Dearie", but figured it was too obscure a reference!. I used to confuse her with Blossom Rock, who played Grandmama on The Addams Family.

When Dave played the "Blossom" theme this morning, I nearly posted "Not to be confused with Blossom Dearie", but figured it was too obscure a reference!. I used to confuse her with Blossom Rock, who played Grandmama on The Addams Family.

As with a number of artists of her generation, I was introduced to her on the Merv Griffin Show, when it aired daily in the afternoon. Quentin Crisp was another personality I'd probably have never seen at all were it not for Merv. I'm sure there are others. (Of course, there was also Merv's monthly bombastic rendition of "Piano Man" to be endured, so watching the show was not without its penance.)
