BOS to "All the Girls Love Alice," one of Elton's very best and most politicized songs.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

"what do you expect from a 16-year-old yo-yo?"  Ditto the BOS and your sentiment -- this was truly (for folks listening to album-rock radio in '73) a glimpse into an unseen world.

in 35 years we've gone from "All the Girls Love Alice" to "If You Seek Amy".

relatively rare Doobs, "Without You", and now the nice surprise of Seals & Crofts' "Hummingbird". (They belonged to a religion that believed hummingbirds were sacred, or something. Seriously!)

wh-wh-wha..?!

I have to check that out.

OT: I'm sure, then, that they've been to Costa Rica, where hummingbirds are abundant in some places, like the cloud forest regions

OK, it's off to work for me.  This has been a pretty terrible week for me, but at least tomorrow's the weekend.  Have a good one, all.

I haven't been able to find it online, but when this was a hit, I specifically remember Casey Kasem saying that S&C were members of the Bah'ai religion and that it teaches that hummingbirds are the earthly presence of god among us, or words to that effect.

BOS3 "Helen Wheels" -- say ByeBye!

You know Paulie wrote this song about his Land Rover (which was called Helen), right? Back before they became luxury SUVs.
Let's get right to it.

No! I love trivia like that. Yeah, the Brits were way ahead on the Land Rover thing.

Guess Paul was big on writing about whatever he saw in his daily life. Dogs, cars, butterpies, stuff like that.
