a fab '60s flashback on the retro-chart show: a March 1968 chart -- Bev Bevan of the Move (and later of ELO) is the guest. The Move were at #3 (guess Esther & Abi Ofarim were unavailable).

01.    Esther And Abi Ofarim - Cinderella Rockefella
...snippy snip...
30.   The Four Tops - If I Were A Carpenter

holy frijoles!  now THIS is the kind of internet radio that makes me hardly EVER listen to my itunes MP3s.  I'll have to seek out the retro-chart show for next time.

It's available for download (look for the "Listen Again" tab once you open their player) until this Sunday.  Tom Jones, the original gangsta, just popped a cap in dat 'ho Delilah. (actually he used a knife). He shoulda hooked up with "Jennifer Juniper" instead!

For Ali and all those who miss CGSS, here's a possible substitute: London's "Heart Radio" and their Friday Club Classics...

http://www.heart1062.co.uk/club-classics-45

Today's a good day to try them out -- the show runs until 10pm London time, which is normally 2pm here, but since they re-set their clocks last week, it'll go to 3pm today only.

don't know if anyone knows the stable of online stations hosted by radioio.com.  good stuff, but they do play commercials-- like 3 mins or so every five songs it seems, but the playists they have are pretty decent.  Here's a recent look at their radioio70s rock station:

Mott the Hoople - Whizz Kid
Peter Frampton - All I Want To Be Is By Your Side
Pink Floyd - Wish Your Were Here
Led Zeppelin - Down By The Seaside
Queen - Let Me Entertain You
John Mayall - Room To Move LIVE
    John Lennon- Instant Karma
    Genesis - Carpet Crawlers
Steely Dan - Fire In The Hole
Atlanta Rhythm Section - So Into You
David Bowie - Life On Mars
    Doors - Wishful Sinful
Linda Ronstadt - It Doesn't Matter Anymore
    Joni Mitchell - Carey
    Blackfoot - Highway Song
    10cc - Dreadlock Holiday
Elton John - Teacher I Need You
    The Guess Who - Undun
    Billy Joel - The Entertainer
Camel - Down On The Farm
Joe Cocker - Cry Me A River
    Jethro Tull - Journeyman
    Little Feat - The Fan
    Allman Brothers -One Way Out
    Fleetwood Mac - Oh Well
    Neil Young - The Loner

I know the guy behind that, actually.  He's a good guy, very devoted to the concept of Internet radio.  I can pass along feedback if you're a regular listener.

Is the guy you know "tom?"  He's the regular jock on the 70s rock station.  Anyway, sure, if you see him and think of it, mention that people certainly notice and appreciate it.  Right now, though I'm on radioio70s pop: "I Am, I Said," said Neil Diamond.

sorry, just saw this -- I've been listening to HeartFM (see prev post) but "Club Classics" is almost over for today. The verdict: not quite as eclectic as Greg's CGSS but quite enjoyable. Def going to be a regular Friday thing for me, and apparently starting a week from Monday they're going to be doing it every day, at least until Xmas.
