uh, guess that promo was wrong -- a VT starting in '66 (!), making it the 2nd mid '60s-to-mid '70s VT in a month! Damn!
'66 to '75 is for me the perfect capture of rock's most golden period.  BOS to Mr. Stubbs and co.
Yes!  My favorite years, with the possible exception of 67-76.  Nicer palindrome too.

You know the story that when "Tighten Up" became a hit, Archie Bell had already enlisted in Army, so they got a substitute "Archie Bell" to tour to capitalize on its popularity.

BOS3 and proxy of Brett Favre for "Build Me Up, Buttercup."

"buttercup" -- more Faux Tops, as it totally rips off "I'll Turn To Stone", melodically. VHM to a great (if overplayed) classic.

Ditto for the Faux Tops bit.  I used to think it was them.

Burton C can spell! Them Canadians are amazing!

I guess this is not a date-specific VT in that these songs were not in the Top Ten *this week in...* these years.

Funny thing about this one...I thought it was odd that they were complaining about an American woman when they sounded just as American as you and me.  It was years before I knew they were Canucks.

Hi everybody!  I'm Archie Bell of the Drells, of Houston, Texas; and we don't only sing, we dance just as good as we want!

ah yes, one of the best lines ever uttered in the realm of pop music...  I quote it often, if only to amuse myself -- it always works!

What I said about "Hey Jude" on Friday goes double for "American Pie" -- once a year is plenty.

Is that it??? I always thought they dance as good as they walk.  Now THAT makes sense  ;)

ETA: Lyrics sites agree with me, for what it's worth.

Hey, American Pie Woman, get away from me ... and go get me another slice.
