Really shitty news:

http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/archive/story/99558/clear-channel-san-francisco-shuffles-talk-station-

Cause what we need is more Glenn Beck & Armstrong/Getty  >:(
I've posted this link on a couple of fb host pages (Stephanie Miller, Norm Goldman) I can't believe there's no market for progressive radio in SF!  If anyone hears anything, let me know.

according to Gil Gross (a swell guy; I worked with him at ABC in the '80s), who I'm FB-friends with,  there are "irons in the fire" or whatever and left-of-center talk radio may rise phoenix-like in the Bay Area sooner than later.

I hope you and Gil are correct (as opposed to being right).

The Palo Alto Pop Overthrow is my favorite Bay Area radio show.

It's on Thursday mornings from 7-9 and streams here:

looks like "Green 960" may stay progressive after all, per this post on the radio-info board:

Several sources tell ALL ACCESS that CLEAR CHANNEL has changed its mind, and will keep KKGN-A intact. Why? Perhaps the changes at crosstown CUMULUS Talk KGO-A made the planned moves worth revisiting.

Hopeful news, but I couldn't really follow the logic of the article.  Could you figure out what they were implying?

seems pretty clear to me  ;)  Cheap Channel was going to replace most of the KKGN lineup with conservative syndicated crap; now that KGO is no longer a (slightly-)left-leaning talk station they've reconsidered. The possibility exists that some of the KGO folks could end up at KKGN (tho' I suspect at a much lower salary)

It's been ages since I listened to Little Steven on Sun nite on The Bone -- I long ago got tired of how they screw the show up each week and switched to listening via his website at work. But I turned the station on around 8:50 to see if I ciould catch some of Part 1 of his Xmas show while waiting for the Autumn King on KPOO at 10. And here we are, it's 9:21 and they're still playing regular stuff (Henley's "Boys of Summer" -- sheesh -- folloowed by Zep's "Kashmir"). Some things never change.

Meanwhile the "Lost & Found" Xmas show is on KFOG as I type, and he actually played Madonna's atrocious "Santa Baby" cover and praised it to the skies (!) -- methinks he's had too much eggnog.

ETA: OK, it's now 9:30... Nikki Blakk just said "stick around, Joel Selvin is coming up at 11:00". So they've discontinued Steven? He's still listed on their website, FWIW.

OMG, he just played Maria Mena  :o :o :o :o :o

She had a minor pop hit with this "gem" in 2004, which also landed the #1 spot on my Annoying List for that year (and yes, this year's is coming!) :D

Eeeeek-Now he's playing MercyMe.  I realize this is the Christmas edition, but still...this is not Lost & Found's week.

The latest on the KKGN/KNEW/KGO shuffle...

910, which *was* KNEW is now taking the KKSF call letters. 960, which *was* KKGN, becomes KNEW. Their new lineups as of Jan 3rd 2012:

Quote
910 - KKSF

Armstrong & Getty - 6-9 a.m.
NO ONE NAMED YET - 9-Noon
Tom Sullivan (Syndicated) - Noon - 3
Len Tillem (the Loy-ah) - 3-4
Gene Burns - 4-7 (and his Dining show will air Sat mornings)
No one named for nights yet.  "

960 - KNEW

Glenn Beck - 6-9 a.m.
Dave Ramsey - 9-Noon
Randi Rhodes - Noon-3
Norman Goldman - 3-6
Market Wrap - 6-7
Stephanie Miller - 7-10
Thom Hartmann - 10-1
OVERNITES NOT NAMED YET

Seems odd that they're mixing up right & left on each station rather than having the stations be all of one or the other.

Stephanie Millier's Sexy Liberal Comedy Tour is going gangbusters around the country, but now she can't get a live feed in SF?  Glenn Beck?  Oy!
