no back-door necessary today, the stream is up and running.

They're promo-ing the Drive's 4th Birthday Party -- a free Styx concert at the Rosemont (?) Theater in Chi-Town.

VHM to "The Hottest Disco Steps"!  Except that Bob ruined the payoff by segueing into Neil's "Hey Hey My My."
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

"It's All I Can Do" to keep from nodding off...

"When I was crazy
I thought you were great."

Hope Ric's not singing about Paulina. Are they still married?

Kudos to Bob for digging out a Pope JPII clip.  He always sounded like Bela Lugosi when he spoke English...

Great, now I'm imagining the Pope referring to "that cocksucker Karloff."

So at 10 we had Graham Parker doing "Get Started (Start a Fire)" (sorry you missed it, MShray).
At 11 we have Joe Jackson doing "...Out With Him."

Ergo, at 1 we will get something from Elvis Costello to complete the Angry Young Trifecta.

after the Sounds Deluxe commercial I heard exactly the following:

"...something's goin' wrong around...

-

[drumbeat]"
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

LOL!

Virtually all the newscasters I worked with at ABC would dread Xmas and Easter because we'd always have Pope clips to use, and they'd always be trying not to laugh.  JPII always sounded like he was seconds away from saying "I vahnt to sahk your blahhhd..."

Mixed feelings on the Supertramp.  Love the melody, hate the lyrics.

I guess that summarizes my feelings about 80% of their oeuvre.  How come no one ever plays "It's Raining Again"?

I think that WAS the payoff -- disco's here, but "rock and roll will never die".

Dammmmmmnnnnnn.  I might have to be like Mike & pull an early Friday if they're playing that part of the catalogue.
