22 Aug 2008: a "classic" from 1987
« on: August 22, 2008, 10:01:07 AM »
yeesh -- I hoped '90 yesterday would mean something good today. This new "less old stuff" edict blows in a major way.

ETA: I'm bailing. Again.   We've only had 3 '60s sets in the past 3 months: May 16th ('69), July 4th (a "classic" '60s Soul Patrol) and July 16th ('68).  Sad.

Where will you be listening this afternoon?  I'll come along since I'll be doing work at home all afternoon.

I'll be doing CGSS at noon Pacific/3pm Eastern. Your company will be appreciated!

Right now I'm listening to CBS-FM; their hourly "Hall of fame" feature today is "First and Last Hits". This hour it was Johnny Rivers, "Memphis" and "Slow Dancin'".  Kinda cool concept, actually.

thanks, TC!  Nothing there I'm sorry to have missed ;) the Prince, which was a rarity 2 years ago, is nearly a  Katrina itself by now. You're welcome to join Gaz & myself at noon for the weekly British soul/funk show we listen to at

http://mygoldmusic.co.uk/

let us know if you have trouble getting the player to load; they used to ask you to enter a British postal code for access, and if that's still the case use WC2H 9DD.

Guess I won't be tuning in after all. I heard the first 4 tunes in the car.

Not sure if I picked up on this the first time last year, but Kudos to Dave on the segue from the Ollie North 'that's why the gov't of the United States gave me a shredder' clip into Petty's "Damage Is Done".

Out to lunch (Tibetan Kitchen, yummy momos); back for the Soul Spectrum!

I would have voted "End of the World..." BOS.  Even as I know it's a katrina, I feel fine.
