8 Aug 2008: a "classic" from 1986
« on: August 08, 2008, 10:02:47 AM »
'86ed for the second time in 3  weeks -- not a lucky 8/8/8 here.  This is getting depressing  -- '90s on Mondays, late-'80s on Fridays.

the next tune is either the Goat or World Party.

ETA: since it's the Goat, I can tell you that this set is pretty good.  Not at all Katrina-laden.

Are you assuming this is a "classic"? -- the intro was new, I think the set is too. (Last week's was, wasn't it?)

It's a classic -- that's what the KFOG Promotions guy down at the 21st Amendment told me this morning during my barrage of questions about DM and 10@10.

Well cut off my legs and call me shorty!

I figured, since 21st-A is a stone's throw from KFOG, that Dave recorded a new show and that he'd hop in a cab for the backannounce.  We usually don't get new intros (with current birthday wishes) for reruns.

BOS to "Big Time," which nicely articulated how I felt about the tiny town I grew up in.

Noticing again how similar the sax in Jackson Browne's "For America" is to that in KBC's "America" a year prior.

Hey Tink, how was it there this morning?  Had you met DM and the morning crew before?  Did you get on-the-air??

Last week's was like that.  I just posted the setlist after checking.

This set was originally from May 10th last year.

Not my favorite place in SF, but I had to go see those guys in person!  Saw "Bjorn" the Air Guitarist (wow, I bet that was some good radio, huh?! -- it was pretty boring even in person), two li'l cute sisters read the Sleep Train commercial (alas, without the train whistle, which was prob been back at the Bone's studios), heard the live and local artist Austin Willacy do a song.

also, got some free coffee, bagels, Sans-a-belt soup ... and finally, Sled Pie.
