2 May 2008: The Comic Book Set

in honor of Iron Man, presumably. Well, there's lots of "Superman" songs: REM, CTDs, Kinks, Spin Doctors... One Foghead suggested "Sugar Sugar", har har.

That would be quite appropriate, though you can't imagine how delighted I'd be if Dave went with lesser-known Archies, like "Jingle Jangle" or "Shang-a-Lang."

Other options: Prince, "Batdance" (fatchance); A-ha, "Take on Me"; Sabbath, "Iron Man"

A-ha, "Take on Me"

I know the video used comic-panel images, but unless there's an actual comic book being referenced... that's not what Dave's going for.

Literalists gonna be out of luck, then.

Indeed, they seemed to be struggling to get 10 songs... not a well-thought-out idea IMHO. Esp considering a James Brown Birthday Soul Patrol woulda been much easier to populate (and more entertaining).

I'm betting on "Magneto and Titanium Man" from Paul the Macca

Is it just Super Heros or can we get something frm the Archies?

Dave said there was no connection between Sabbath's "Iron Man" and the comic character, but in fact the movie trailer did use this, so there is some connection now.

Big BOS from me anyway, this isn't just a bustout for "Iron Man", it's a bustout for Black Sabbath entirely!

there's yer Sabbath, and Dave already said he's playing something from Prince, which I presume to be "Batdance", so you'll be 2 out of 3 anyway.

Well, since Charlie Brown was already mentioned, I'm guessing it's a possibility

And 3 Doors Down, too.

ETA: and Donavan for that matter!  How could we miss this one, it also mentions Green Lantern.

Green Lantern - nice!  Who wil win the most obscure Super Hero award?  Diaper Man, maybe?

FLASH!  Ah-aaah!

"and now another episode of 'Flash' Mercury, Butt Explorer!"

BOSs to Sabbath and Kinks.  If Dave plays "Magneto & Titanium" I will fall down prostrate in worship, but "Batdance" will be the bustout of the decade, considering it's one of the biggest hits of 1989 and has never graced that dreaded year.

Sheena of the Jungle takes the pole position for the award!
