Some Gin Blossoms for you young'uns!
It was fun when visiting my brother in Tempe AZ in early 90's to see these guys live and watch them become a national act.  Too bad their songwriter/guitarist killed himself. I believe they are playing a gig here this summer (in Danville!).
Just did a lil' research, Gin Blossoms are playing this Sat, April 19, in San Ramon at the new Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center. See

Closest thing to a bustout: Phish, Wolfman's Brother.

According to my "database", last heard:

   10/18/05 - Tuesday!  Not so long ago...1993!!!

Mine, too. And just realized that the FNM tune was also a one-timer, prior to today.
Of course, it sucked, so no getting too excited about it.

Well, while it didn't add much to the original, I don't think it sucked.  I mean, it's not like it was Shatner.  :-}

Who's this Easy guy?

Faith No More, believe it or not.

Now we've got REM, comin' in tryin' to wake her...

Total by-the-book set so far. Neither Mike nor Gaz will be sorry to have missed this.

Au contraire: I'm delighted I caught the replay BECAUSE of FNM's "Easy"!  (Yes, I decided to delay reading this thread until I could follow along with the set.  Geeky I.)  I'm actually enjoying this, although that Portrait is Katrina territory.

#2 was Portrait, Here We Go Again, #3 is one I know we've heard but I can't place it. Kind of a laconic groove, with mandolin over percussion. Tasmin Archer maybe?

Nice bit of foreshadowing, eh?

I was in the car when that FNM cover came on and called in to BOS Gin Blossoms and ask Dave who it was torturing Lionel Ritchie.  He said it was FNM & that "it was a bigger hit than anything the Gin Blossoms ever had."  I said I thought it was a HFH, and he said he agreed.

I have subsequently checked, and "Easy" peaked at #58, whereas the Gin Blossoms peaked at #25.  (Interestingly each band's biggest hit peaked at #9.)
