Mike, I'm surprised you like the Sly, Slick and Wickedwickedwickedwicked - I think them Persuaders-esque.  That said, heard a lot of great moments in the brief period I was able to spend with the countdown.

Listening to the '80s set now, and damn if Andy Taylor's "Take It Easy" isn't a T. Rex riff with the chorus of "Let Your Love Flow."

BOS2 to Wham!'s "The Edge of Heaven," which I sang last time I did karaoke, which was in a private room with friends in Boston.  Love this forgotten song.  I thought it was a sure #1 and was flummoxed when it peaked at #10.

Forgot to mention: When "Friends & Lovers" came out, I mondegreened the singer's name as "Glory Alluring."  Sounded like a porn name.

bwahahaha!  Don't know if you remember an '80s dance hit called "Savin' Myself" by Eria Fachin, but for months all the NY deejays made it sound like her name was Area Fashion -- I thought she was a band, like Leisure Process.

I'd forgotten about Mike & the Mechanics' "Taken In" -- sounds like they listened to Squeeze's "Tempted" a few dozen times.

VHMs HoJo, the Monkees and JCM.

I like DLR but "Yankee Rose" is weak.

WOS2 GTR -- there's a reason this one's forgotten.  Surprised it hasn't shown up on a Drive 1986 10@10.

Nostalgic VHM to Regina, one of the many Madonna clones of the period -- they all had one-word, 3-syllable names, which still amuses me.

Gonna WOS the first 3 songs.  Klymaxx clearly faking it with a Man-Sized Love.  That Device song was unlistenable, and this Mike + The Mechanics song is going nowhere.

BOS2 The Monkees, "That Was Then, This Is Now".  Geez, I haven't heard this in ages...still sounds good.
Diamond Dave's Yankee Rose hasn't aged well.  Neither has he.  VHM anyway

Never cared for "Baby Love".  Insipid lyrics and a lame baby sound sample.

Agree enthusiastically about GTR being crap-ass. I consider myself both a yes and genesis fan, but I cannot recall giving a crap about that one--or even remembering it, for that matter.

This is Regina? Sound ZACKLY like Ms. Ciccone.  She even has that weird throat-y warble when she goes into lower register.

I love Lisa Lisa's upbeat stuff but this extra, "All Cried Out" is a really awful bit of ballad songwriting. "Set this place on fire/'cause I'm tired/of your lies"? Sheesh.

Also agree about the Lionel Ritchie; I seem to recall he got the title, realized he could do a video ripping off the old movie routine by Fred Astaire, and at that point it didn't matter how crappy the rest of the song was.  Woo Hoo to the "Woo Woo": BOS2 Jeffrey Osborne.

Can't agree with Gaz about "Edge of Heaven", tho'... Wham's weakest US single, IMHO.  Always a VHM for the Monkeys who blow. Ditto the TSC's "Rumors".

As I prepare to exit, pre-emptive BOSes to the PSBs and the fantabulous Jermaine Stewart.
