IDKT: The Jets' "Rocket 2 U" was originally going to be recorded by Earth Wind & Fire.  And John Oates co-wrote Icehouse's "Electric Blue."

Oddest cover choice of set: Natalie Cole's gender inversion of "Pink Cadillac," which was danceable but destroyed the metaphor unless she went lesbionic.

Agreed about the worthless "My Girl" re-do by Suave; didn't we hear Sister Sledge's equally unnecessary "My Guy" remake recently?  But always a BOS for being RickRollled.

VHM Jermaine Stewart's *other* hit, "Say it Again".  And I'd completely forgotten that Mr Ferry's "Kiss & Tell" actually made the Top 40.

WOS Georgie M's "One More Try" -- I always found the ballads on this album boring and insufferable.

But VHM Keith Sweat's "I Want Her", early New Jack Swing at its most enjoyable. And I echo Gaz's BOS for Brenda Russell's "Piano in the Dark".

Toto kicks Roseanna to the curb and hooks up with "Pamela". Big mistake, guys.

BOS3 Scarlett & Black -- yeah, I can see how it might sound like generic synth-pop on first hearing, but I heard it hundreds of times back then. I'm a sucker for a hook like that chorus has. Still have the 45.

And speaking of generic, WOS2 Richard Marx, "Endless Summer Nights" -- Remember when the most interesting thing about him was that his mom was the "Quasar" lady? Oddly, it still is.

Another VHM Morris Day's "Fishnet", tho' I still prefer "The Oak Tree"

I hope people besides Mike and me find these exchanges entertaining.

Listening to the '70s countdown on WODS now.  Casey intros Andrea True without mentioning any of the things that made her interesting.  And this post makes for a nice true connection to the S-S-Samantha Fox above.  No more games of the moind!

Bwahaha!  Casey will, a few weeks later, tell the story about her recording the song in the Carribbean because they wouldn't let her take the earnings from her, er, "nightclub act" out of the country; I can't recall whether Casey identified her as a porn star.
