well, it least it's underplayed Supertramp...
and there's the Doob's "Fool," but after all, it was all over the place in 79

I never can figure out what he's singing on this line: " ...somewhere back in ______."  Anyone?
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

he had to play this after having played "He's So Shy" last week...  "Steal Away" should be on tap next week.

VHM Ian Gomm, which I truly loved back then.  Guess it was either this or "Cruel to be Kind" to cover the Stiff contingent.

Ian Gomm, yea!

You betcha, BOS3, after Elvis and the Roxy. (Ain't It So took my actual vote tho.)
Let's get right to it.

Another VHM to the Doobies, aka the Michael McDonald Band. IIRC, What A Fool Believes cleaned up at the Grammies. Unfortunatly, AMG's notoriously slow servers are timing out on me, so I can't confirm that.

I was already in:

1979  (Album) Minute By Minute - Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal
1979  (Song) What a Fool Believes - Record Of The Year

"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Song of the year and Record of the Year, I'm guessing; not sure about the Album winner that year.

Also Best Instrumental arrangement accompanying Vocalist(s)/Best background arrangement to Michael McDonald,
and Song of the Year to Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald, both for WAFB. (I think record of the year is for the recording, song of the year is for songwriting.)
Let's get right to it.

Foghead totally cacked on the bonus choice. Rosalie offered him Tim Curry's I Do the Rock or the aforementioned My Sharona, but he took Devo's Workin' In a Coal Mine--which wasn't even from '79, iirc.

indeed -- "Whip it" is from 1980, and "Coal Mine" came after that.

This is correct.

According to Wikipedia (I grit my teeth every time I type that), Album of the year at the 1980 Grammies (the same year the Doobies cleaned up) was Billy Joel's 52nd Street.

Yup. Best New Artist was Rickie Lee Jones and it was the ONLY year they gave the "Best Disco Recording" Grammy (to "I Will Survive", ironically).
