Thursday March 24--it's 1988
« on: March 24, 2005, 10:00:14 AM »
This must be the week we catch up on our post-1980 sets, since we only had one last week.
Let's get right to it.

the very beginning of the song the jangly guitar figure sounded kind of like a Bizzaro world version of 'last train to clarkesville.'

I'm shocked! KFOG misses an opportunity for shameless self-promotion.

And yes, "The Look" does start out sounding like "Clarksville".

'88 Wish List:

Debbie Harry, "Liar Liar"
Kylie, "I Should Be So Lucky"
Yazz & the Plastic People, "The Only Way is Up"

fat chance on any of those actually being played.
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

True, but I don't get the feeling that they've been flogging the Spring Break thing with quite the same enthusiasm as they have in the past. Fine by me. Low key is better.

(Btw, I heard a promo for it the other night with a tag at the end that said "it's a wing-ding thing"  so maybe they haven't abandoned that franchise name entirely.)
Let's get right to it.

I got here just in time for "The Night Patrol," boring me to tears.  "Oh, they're homeless, that's sad."  Songs like this tend to have a "Noble Savage" streak that always irks me -- see "Mr. Wendal" for the case exemplar.

So I missed "U Got the Look," then?  Damn!

You answered your own question.

From the same folks who would late give us "Psalm 69."

Ministry.

And here's a bit of trivia: Ministry's drummer, Bill Rieflin, is now the regular sticks-man for Scott McCaughey's & Pete Buck's popcentric Minus 5.
Let's get right to it.
