BOS3 to the Kings (not to be confused with the aforementioned Kinks),

Db trivia time: looking at the Db, there are several 'king' groups.  And either they have been played once or they've been played at least 5 times.  Can you guess which is which?

King Biscuit Boy
King Crimson
King Floyd
King Harvest
Kings
Kingsmen

In Airplane, Beaver's Mom: "I speak Jive..."

It's Airplane!, not Airplane, but anyway:

Randy: Can I get you something?
Second Jive Dude: 'S'mofo butter layin' me to da' BONE! Jackin' me up... tight me!
Randy: I'm sorry, I don't understand.
First Jive Dude: Cutty say 'e can't HANG!
Jive Lady: Oh stewardess! I speak jive.
Randy: Oh, good.
Jive Lady: He said that he's in great pain and he wants to know if you can help him.
Randy: All right. Would you tell him to just relax and I'll be back as soon as I can with some medicine?
Jive Lady: Jus' hang loose, blood. She gonna catch ya up on da' rebound on da' med side.
Second Jive Dude: What it is, big mama? My mama no raise no dummies. I dug her rap!
Jive Lady: Cut me some slack, Jack! Chump don' want no help, chump don't GET da' help!
First Jive Dude: Say 'e can't hang, say seven up!
Jive Lady: Jive ass dude don't got no brains anyhow! Hmmph!

Figuring XTC

You figgered right!

And there's the Lennon ref. I didn't even have to dust off the crystal ball for that one.
Let's get right to it.

and here's yer Lennon clip into  -- UGH! "People Who Died".. for shame, Dave -- seriously.
I was on-the-air the night Lennon died, ended up doing the overnight, playing all Beatles/Lennon and network news updates until sunrise. I recall taking calls from listeners whose clock radios went off at 5am or 6am tuned to our station, who woke up not knowing what all the fuss was about.

I was on the air in NJ the night Lennon died, ended up doing the overnight, playing all Beatles/Lennon and network news updates until sunrise. I recall taking calls from listeners whose clock radios went off at 5am or 6am tuned to our station, woke up not knowing what all the fuss was about.

Wow!  I was in NYC and heard the news from Vin Scelsa. And of course WNEW-FM went into several days of all-Beatles-all-the-time programming.

I have Vin Scelsa on tape from that night, from WNEW-FM's 20th Anniversary retrospect in 1987
