13 Feb 2008--draggin' this thing into the 90's - 1991
« on: February 13, 2008, 09:24:16 AM »
at least that's what Dave said in yesterday's promo.  I may miss the first part on a call, but I trust Urth can update the exact year if I'm too slow.

ETA: 1991 it is.

These ads on the KFOG stream for WeinerSchnitzel corndogs are making me hungry... but I'm sure a '90s set will make me lose my appetite quickly.

We also heard "Unbelieveable" in the '91 "classic" we got just a couple of weeks ago. Let's hope we avoid "Rico Suave" this time...

I was listening to KFOX when they were doing their "Vinyl Timeline" bit, and they did the same commercial with different announcers and slight changes in style.  It was kinda weird.

HM, to Webb Wilder, Toughin' it out. This is a def. Narada for me--I heard it in later years, but in 91--no way.

And now Mr. Wilder is languishing in semi-obscurity in Nashvegas.
Let's get right to it.

What is this "Tough It Out" song?  Australian Culture on the Skids?

I don't know this song at all. Where was I in '91? Hmmm, Boston listening to the Phoenix. This wouldn't have been their cup of tea, so to speak.

In mah opinionation... '91 is less than fine.

and yeah, the Webb Wilder is a Narada for me too. Of course I moved here in June of '91 and once I was here I listened to KDIA almost constantly.

I can see why you'd do that since KDIA's mission is as follows: "KDIA exists to equip and motivate listeners to advance the cause of Christ through broadcast ministries which edify and evangelize."

I moved here in October of '91 and landed immediately on KFOG.

I think I always ask this when this song comes on, but is that Peter Sellers doing the bit about "rhythm and melody"?  What is it from?

LOL!  It was a sad day when the great KDIA stopped playing classic R&B (after 35 years!)... actually the frequency (1310) became Radio Disney and the call letters migrated to a gospel station up the dial.
