Just realized that the link I provided is the same McCain interview referenced by Mark (and Murrell) above.  More discouraging stuff to be found in there, including his admission that he'd leave it up to school boards whether or not to teach evolution.  (I'm reminded of the line that the theocons are against evolution because it hasn't happened to them yet.)

Quote
Q: How do you feel about teaching evolution in schools?

Mr. McCain: I think, first of all, it’s up to the school boards. That’s why we have local control over education. So my personal view is that children should be exposed to as much as they possibly can so that they can make their decisions and be the best informed. But I really believe that school boards are elected in order to make a lot of those decisions, and I respect their decisions unless they are unconstitutional in some way or, you know.

Q: If you were on a school board, how would you vote?

Mr. McCain: I don’t know, Adam. I’d have to see the proposal, I’d have to see where it lies in the curriculum, I’d have to – I can’t. I’m not running for school board.

Except that, as a few other columnists and bloggers have pointed out, McCain DID say "bomb-bomb-Iran," and Cindy DID abuse and steal pills, so those are things that can be satirized, parodied, exaggerated.  Barack and Michelle did not do the things they're portrayed as doing.  So it's not the best comparison.  It would have been a better illustration if McCain were pictured with the black illegitimate children the Bush/Rove campaign rumored him to have in the 2000 primary season.

ah, but that's what the cartoonist here is saying: "here's a cartoon for those of you who don't get 'irony' or 'satire' -- who only want cartoons to show things that are based in reality"

In a related story, the Daily Show did a hilarious bit this week about the similarities between Rappers & Republicans.

If you haven't seen Jon Voight's hilariously preposterous right-wing anti-Obama screed from the Washington Times (aka "the Moonie paper"), here it is. No wonder Angelina hates him...

Safe to say, he didn't have a ghostwriter for that.  ;)

I love how right-wingers who accuse lefties of disrespecting our soldiers in uniform have no problem attacking military men like Wesley Clark when it's convenient to their agenda.  What's good for a goose is barely worth a gander.
