My latest blog is the silly quest to name the 5 albums you'd want to be stranded on a desert island with, presuming one could also have a CD or turntable working on said desert isle.  I believe most of you have pondered this question at one time or another.  So I hope you will leave your list in the comments!

The lists posted so far have only proven my exasperation at doing this.  How could I leave off "What's Going On" and "Layla?"  This is more like a 'who do you let into your fallout shelter?' kind of thing.

That's well put.  I've been thinking about mine, so far I have maybe three for sure, and about a 27-way tie for the last two slots.

I'm already having buyer's remorse in not putting any Stevie Wonder albums on my list.

And, as Gaz points out, leaving Stevie Wonder off a list makes no sense either (I'd go with Innervisions).

Also on my list, at varying times:

Electric Ladyland, Jimi
Quadrophenia, Tommy, and/or Who's Next, the 'oo.
Live! The J. Geils Band and/or Bloodshot, The J. Geils Band
The Best of Al Green, Al Green (best ofs are cheating, but worthwhile in this case)
All of the LZ albums, prior to In Through the Out door.
Some Girls, The Rolling Stones
Bridge of Sighs, Trower
Frampton Comes Alive!, Frampton (Seriously.  Nothing takes me back to my youth like FCA!)
Born To Run, Springsteen
Not Fragile, BTO

And so on.

ETA:  Funny how many of my top albums have an exclamation point in their titles:  Look Sharp!, Frampton Comes Alive!, Live! The J. Geils Band.  And I'm not sure I can come up with any other albums that even have exclamation points.  Odd.

Innervisions is my favorite of his albums overall, but I'd have to take Songs in the Key of Life because I wouldn't want to live in a world without "As" and "Another Star."

I'm curious about how you feel about Hilary's speech:

I thought of you 10@10'ers, and wondered if you also noticed the May Moore lyrical transmogrification.

There's a quote often attributed to Jimi Hendrix: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."  I imagine people have been making variations on this sort of wordplay for years and years; no one can know who originated it.

Since I'm extremely gullible, I'll respond.  Mark (I think it was our Mark, he didn't leave last name) made a comment on my blog post about Mr. Spock being credited with the line that "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" should have been credited to Jeremy Bentham.  I was just extending the Spock riff.  </unnecessary explanation of the semi-obvious>

I thought both speeches were very good and did what they were supposed to do.  It intrigues me that all these "Reagan Democrat" types (blue-collar, Michigan/Pennsylvania/Ohio) who *LURVE* HRC even tho' the right has demonized her for 16 years, can turn around and say Obama's "too liberal" or somesuch. Does not compute.

They know they're not allowed to say what they really don't like about him.

It's too bad Bill (or Bill's writers) didn't write Biden's speech.
