KFOG/KBCO/The Drive A-to-Z 2008
« on: January 14, 2008, 08:19:51 AM »
I noted that we had a separate thread for this last year, so here's one for the 2008 edition.   I was in transit at 7am so I missed the kickoff.

Per their respective "just played" features, KFOG began with "A" by the BNLs, but 'BCO started with "Accidentally In Love" by Countiing WhiteDreads (bypassing the likes of "Abacab").  Gee, can you guess whose A-to-Z will last longer?

Dave has been teasing a "Major, MEGA" song-beginning-with-A for the past 20 mins.  No clue.

I tuned into KFOG around 7:50 (as I do most mornings) and heard Accidents Will Happen followed by Across the Universe (not the Wildlife version, iirc). From there it was Addicted to Love and I forget what they played after that.

And Dave was doing his best to piss off the advertisers by mumbling his way thru the Sleeptrain ad, projecting only words starting with A.
Let's get right to it.

Holy flaming Mother Mother of God!!! They're playing "Alice's Restaurant"!

ETA: I don't really need to hear this today -- 3 times on Thanksgiving is plenty.  I've got a 10:00 meeting, so i'll miss 10@10.  catch ya later, kids!

JEEEE-ZUS H. KEEEEE-RIST! First time I've heard this song on any day besides Thanksgiving in years.

Sorry you'll miss the set--Dave had promised '71, so hoping that holds true.

That's right -- I forgot about '71. I'll hear it tonite. Here's hoping the Carpenters song is something other than "Goodbye to Love" ("Hurting Each Other" or "Superstar" would be nice).

Actually the only Carpenters song we've heard in '71 (per the DB) is Bless the Beasts and the Children. Goodbye to Love is '72. But it's all moot 'cause Dave didn't play them at all today. Bummer.
Let's get right to it.

Out of the blues, KBCO now revives Dandy Warhols, "Bohemian Like You."

So far it seems like both A-Zs are nearly in sync--BCO is running just a little bit ahead (but then they're an hour ahead of us in the first place, so maybe not).

Anyone actively listening to both?  Curious about overlap %.  KBCO's now up to Bob Weir's "Bombs Away," which sounds like a cousin to Boz Scaggs' mid 70s.

KFOG just went into Bodhissatva, which BCO played a little while ago. I would expect Bohemian Rhapsody soon.

And now KFOG is playing it.

ETA: ...straight into Bohemian Rhapsody, which one assumes will be the last song before 10@10.

And what a treat that was -- it NEVER comes up in reg rotation, tho' they did play it for a while when it was a hit.
