it's "Vinyl Album Side Thursday", which is pretty cool all by itself. And here's Bob with side 2 of ELO, New World Record. ooh la ooh la la ooh.

I've been Deep Tracking in the afternoon most days lately, but I reckon I'll listen to album sides today.  Any idea if there's a list somewhere of what they will be playing?  The music logs are turned off, so no way to tell what they already played.

Still Crazy...
My Little Town
I Do It For Your Love
50 Ways...
Night Game

Hadn't heard "Night Game" in ages -- woulda been a fine coda to the Baseball set we never got.  That really took me back, I bought that LP the week it was released (Fall '75) and played it endlessly for the rest of the year.

Been listening since the end of the EJ record (bummed I missed Where to Now St. Peter) and I'm amused by the fact that they seem to be actually playing the vinyl. Either that or they have a bumper of a needle dropping onto an album that they play prominently as a lead-in to each album.
Let's get right to it.

They're promoting it as being all-vinyl. Bob talked earlier about how different station staffers had brought in personal copies of LPs; he marvelled at what good shape the Paul Simon album was in -- no fingerprints.

So did you enjoy the jazzed up version of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" that played in lieu of commercials before the Doobies?  I sure did.

That played earlier too -- Deodato rules! And i was surprised that it shows up as "fill music" there; I can't recall Bob ever playing it in a '73 set.

One drawback of vinyl sides is that side 2 of Synchronicity doesn't have "Murder By Numbers", which only came out on the cassette, as my friend Steve* and I discovered almost by accident. I'd gotten the LP right off, and a week or so later we're driving in his car listening to his tape, and when "MBN" came on I was like "WTF!?  Where did that come from?"

If Gaz sees this, yes it the Steve that you met in Seattle, and coincidentally today is his birthday.

Been a while since I heard anything but "the hits" from the Iggles' One of These Nights.  "After the Thrill is Gone" is one of my fave tracks of theirs (and yes, I'll get in another plug for Tanya Tucker's wonderful cover version). But "I Wish You Peace" ... well, there's a reason you never hear this one.

But OMG, I'd forgotten that story about Reagan's daughter (Patti Davis) co-writing that one!  No wonder Henley hated Reagan...
