After playing Bridge School this weekend, Carlos Santana today visited his high school in SF:
Santana returns to alma mater, guitar blazing

I went to Mission *high* in 1987!  Man, I would've killed for some Bi-Rite back in the day...

Spent Monday evening with Jeff Beck at the Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa.  Beck was his usual virtuostic self in the intimate setting.  Of special note to our longtime club members here, Narada Michael Walden was playing drums, and sang on a few tunes (i want to take you higher, for instance).

I almost forgot I saw The Bangles last night at The Fillmore.  Bought tickets at the box office around 8pm and got to sit up in the balcony.  Damn, Susanna still looks amazing!  Good show, not great.  I'd seen them before at the Maritime Hall and they were a bit livelier.  Then again, that was over 10 years ago.

Any Michael Steele sightings? I gather she's not in the band anymore, but she was living in SF a few years back, so was thinking she could show up for a song or two.

What songs do you remember from the setlist?  As I've gushed from time to time here, I adore her work with Matthew Sweet on their pair of covers albums.

I love those Under the Covers albums, too!

They played a bunch of stuff from their new album.  Quite Bangle-y, as to be expected.  No Michael Steele(s) sightings.  :P I loved her voice - especially on "September Gurls".  They played the hits:

Going Down to Liverpool
Walk Like an Egyptian
Hero Takes a Fall
If She Knew What She Wants
September Gurls "that was for Alex!"
Manic Monday
Hazy Shade of Winter (with a touch of "Pictures of Matchstick Men" in the solo)
Eternal Flame (2 Bic lighters in the audience.  Put down your iPhones people!)
In Your Room

I'm going if they come here!

Have to assume they will. And it'd be heresy if they play anyplace other than the Cow Palace. (Which doesn't mean they won't.)
Let's get right to it.
