Any among our numbers attending either of the Elvis Costello "Spinning Songbook" shows last night or tonight? Obviously I'm not (I'm eating my heart out over that one) but I'm hearing amazing things. Like last night the wheel included both And Your Bird Can Sing and Let Me Roll It.

Here's EC's explanation of the protocol for the evening:

Let's get right to it.

damn, that's a great pairing -- I've posted several Ben L'Oncle Soul clips here (he specializes in Raphael Saddiq-ish covers of things like "7 Nation Army" and the like). Is this his first US tour, I wonder? And of course, Ms Jones is da bomb.

Mmm.  Love me some Sharon Jones, but not a fan of SF crowds.  :-/ , especially with two youngsters in tow.  Or even w/o 'em.

Great fun seeing her at the San Jose Jazz Festival.  Yay babysitters...

Ben L'Oncle sounds intriguing.

TOMMY come to San Jose Civic and up to Portland fwiw.

The Who and its members have staged their fair share of "Tommy" tours previously, but one thing will set his venture apart. While previous tours have omitted select songs from the groundbreaking album, Daltrey has promised to perform the rock opera opus in its entirety, according to his tour statement.

Daltrey's touring band will include guitarists Frank Simes and Simon Townshend (younger brother of Who guitarist Pete Townshend), bassist Jon Button, drummer Scott Deavours, and keyboardist Loren Gold.

I think I'll go to San Jose show Oct 21.

Roger Daltrey *IS* the Acid Queen!

Was surprised it's at SJ Civic (capacity 3000+) rather than HP. I've a friend who is an absolute Who FREAK and she's already got tix to see him in Colorado.
