Wonderful time. Piss poor planning having a ball game and concert same night. Took waaaayyy tooo long to get in and park. Got into my seat at 8:25 missing the first 2 songs. Who knew they'd start on time! Security didn't even check bags or purses on the way in, just tried getting us in ASAP. Seats in Sec 102 were decent. I took a few pics and one video. I'll post somewhere later if they're decent. Clapton sounded solid, as did Winwood. I got the Traffic I hoped for. While Winwood tickled the ivories mighty purty, Low Spark ended prematurely without the vigor I expected. Not disappointed though. Eric is still one of my guitar gods and did what he does as well as ever.

OPD was on the job. In the section to my left, three persons in 2 incidents were escorted out. This all happened before 8:45. One guy was cuffed and had about 5 OPD and 5 security assisting him up and out. Two others I think were taken just for smoking pot. I think there was zero tolerance. Must be a new Coliseum rule being enforced. I know people taken out of Madonna show for pot too.

Wow, that's really poor planning on the part of the promoter and the house manager not to have held the curtain until most of the patrons were seated. It resulted in a lot of folks probably being pissed off for the first part of the show, and made it tough on the ushers who had to seat people in the dark while the show was going on. Not to mention the folks who were already seated but had to put up with people crawling over them to get to their seats. Who was the promoter on that one, Ali?

As for people getting busted for smoking pot at a concert, I just shake my head. Times have sure changed since the 70s and 80s.

Glad you had a good time.

Btw, speaking of promoters, I saw that AEG is looking at the largest ticket refund in history, what with the cancellation of MJ's 50-show run in London in the wake of his demise, to the tune of about $85M.

They do that all the time; I went to an A's/Yankees game (one of the few guaranteed sellouts on the A's sked -- and this was pre-tarping the upper deck) on a Saturday night about 8 years ago; it was the same night as the "KFOG Summer Picnic" --also featuring Crapton -- was at the arena.

in case anyone was listening yesterday afternoon, I won M3S & tix for Lyle & his Large Band at the Mtn Winery.  That was one of the shows I most wanted to see, so I was/am stoked!

the songs were:
Hooters - "All You Zombies"
Broooce - "Adam Raised A Cain"
Burning Sensations - "Belly of the Whale"
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

the connection is... Biblical stories, I'm assuming. Figures a minister's son would win!  Congrats!

Ha!  I even said that on the air.  "Guess it pays to be a preacher's kid after all."

Actually it was biblical figures: Moses & Noah, Adam & Cain, Jonah respectively.  I got a busy signal almost all the way through the third song, so Annalisa must have fielded a few wrong answers or people who couldn't ID the tunes.
