wow that's quite extensive!  Not to mention occasionally snarky:

" Mary Jo Kopechne, Ted Kennedy's driving buddy"

But happy B-day Darlene Love!  I didn't find out until too late that she's in "Hairspray" on B'way in the Motormouth Maybelle role.

And occasionally inaccurate. From the deaths page:

Quote
Brent Mydland, rock keyboardist/vocalist (Grass Roots), dies at 38

The Grass Roots? Uhhhh, I don't think so.
Let's get right to it.

it's Helen Mirren's b-day, that's all I need to know!  (well, and Mick Jagger's)

ETA:  This site has some issues:

July 26, 1579 Francis Drake leaves San Francisco to cross Pacific Ocean.

If they had it as 'leaves coast of California..." it would be okay, but not only did San Francisco *not exist* in 1579, no westerner had even laid eyes on the bay yet, and wouldn't for another 90 years.  In fact it is one of Drake's few failings that he spent some weeks on the Point Reyes peninsula without figuring out that one of the world's great harbors was literally a stone's throw away.  I've always wondered how different our history might have been if he'd figured it out.

Or to quote Maxwell Smart:

"Missed it by th-a-a-a-a-a-t much!"

(Aside: As much as I cringe at movies made from older, classic TV shows, I saw a trailer for the Get Smart film last weekend and I'm encouraged. Steve Carell as Max.)
Let's get right to it.

There's been much blogosphere whining about "what a bad idea/how crappy is this gonna be?" but I saw the trailer too and it looked surprisingly amusing.  The director, Peter Segal, is an Adam Sandler crony, unfortunately. But Alan Arkin as the Chief is pretty good casting. (Anne Hathaway is Agent 99)

Missed this comment earlier.  Ya think they'll reprise the scene from Little Miss Sunshine where Arkin sends Carell off to buy some porn?
