Indceed, nice start to the set. It for some reason just dawned on me how similar the band on the Ann Peebles track is to the Al Green songs of the same era. Safe to say they are one and the same?

Back in the office for the first time since friday (a sort of extra long weekend in Oregon) and my typing skills show it. So pls. forgive all typos.
Let's get right to it.

Picking the Stealers Wheel tune for the vinyl--Dave's slipping it in early today.

ETA: DM just confirmed via IM that the SW was the first of two vinyl tracks today.

I dunno if she was a Memphis/Muscle Shoals artist off the top o' me head. But it's quite possible.

Stealer's Wheel: possible vinyl?

Spiro Agnew: definite asshole.

let's hope the 2nd is a bustout -- this is perfectly enjoyable (how could '73 not be?) but it also fairly rote so far.

Safe to say the Elton tune is NOT the vinyl. And I was thinking both the SW and Staples tunes were pretty infrequently heard, although neither is a first-timer either.

The Blue Ridge Rangers for SH6--Hank Sr.'s signature tune was a natural for Fogarty to cover. But is it the viny? Withholding my say for a couple more tunes--certainly could be.

BOS2 Mr Simon -- god how I loved this LP.  This and Innervisions helped me make it thru my first semester of college.

BOS3 "Stir it Up", a major flashback to early '73, one of my fave covers of that era, and it shoulda been a bigger hit, IMHO.

Just rolled into the ghetto with War, and I think this is tune No. 10, so no bustouts today. But pretty nice batch of songs, as you'd expect in any '73 set.

Btw, the Fogarty song was indeed the second vinyl, again per DM. Also got my BOS vote.

Bonus: TOP, "What is Hip?" Hanging out with the so-called hippie set.

Missed the phone call, but nice pick by the foghead for the bonus track--ToP's What Is Hip. One of the best horn charts ever in pop music.
