So said the promo last nite, unless I was dreaming.  Does this mean some sort of special pre-holiday weekend set for Friday?

I am wondering if, after having Joel Selvin in for a very lengthy chat this morning & playing a bunch of stuff from the 'Summer of Love', maybe we won't get a 1967 set tomorrow.

hope hope hope

Nice! I was hoping after the previous three sets we'd be due to head back to the early 70s--1971 will do nicely. Would love to hear Carly Simon's Anticipation, or maybe one of Carole King's great hits from Tapestry. Or in the One Hit Wonder category, Lobo's Me and You and a Dog Named Boo, which I recall being EVERYWHERE on Top 40 radio in the summer of '71.

Just scanning thru the Top 40 Hits site '71 list--man, there were TONS of great singles that year.
Let's get right to it.

But we start with Funky Katrinassau.  Can Dave & Ansel Collins be far behind?

you & me both -- Dave shamefully underplays both artists. I've never heard "Anticipation" in 15 years of 10@10-ing.

That 5MEB tune is sounding katrinish to me too. Maybe because it never quite rings true to me--I dunno.

But now here's a serious  BOS candidate--Ray, Dave, Mick, and John singin' about takin' off their clothes and livin' in the jungle.

I wanna get out of this city alive, and make like an Apeman...

BOS The Cat Man -- Dave makes up for omitting this from the Earth Day set.

"Switch on summmer from a slot machine" -- I think Cat has his AC confused with his Magic Fingers.

Dave's not wholly afraid of '71 cheese; don't be surprised to get Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds.

So he's doing '67 tomorrow, then?  I'm very surprised -- I thought he'd wait until June 1 for the "Sgt. Pepper" anniversary (a/k/a "It was 20 years ago today," 20 years ago today).

I think Maggie may be a Katrina.  But nice to hear the intro-before-the-intro.

We don't know that for sure; mshray was simply speculating earlier.  He has also, on occasion, done a summer-y set before Mem'l Day, esp if he knows he'll be on vacay in June.

Can't grouse too much, but I'm kinda jonesing for something I haven't heard here before, and like yesterday's set, so far it hasn't happened. Love most of what we've heard so far (Signs not so much) but just itching for some new turf to be broken.

I think the '67 thing was a wish, not necessarily a definite deal. With the whole Summer of Love thing featured in the Chron it'd be apropos, but after going to '71 today, I'm not sure what to expect.
Let's get right to it.

This is a record I got so burned out on, I gave it away.  I never do that sort of thing.  It sounds OK now.
