2 March 2007: "Whistle-Rock" ???
« on: March 02, 2007, 07:07:35 AM »
Backstory: Benson played some song on New Releases Thursday that had whistling on it. Some Foghead calls to say: "no song with whistling on it can be considered 'rock' "... and so began a discussion.  I tuned out soon after (it was time for Ginger) so I've no idea what suggestions were made. But we're gonna hear 10 of 'em.

"Montego Bay" has whistling, no?  Sadly, Dave sez he forgot to bring his copy of "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman".

This could turn out as interesting as the "cowbell" set...

Cat Stevens' "Whistlestar" would be ideal, tho' I doubt it's on Dave's radar.

Ask Jeff why he didn't mention the Smith's best-known song.

How Soon Is Now?
Golden Years - Bowie
Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard - Paul Simon
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

He's thinking...  The Smiths are his favorite band.

Somewhere I composed a 10@10 for just this occasion, but can't find it right now.  A couple more are...

Jeux Sans Frontieres - Gabriel oops, missed where Gaz already had this
Winds of Change - Scorpions
Walk Like An Egyptian - Bangles
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Just talked to Dave myself, he says he also doesn't have the Scorpions tune at hand.

But...if we hear a snippet of Monty Python's "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life", y'all have me to thank.
