another bit of trivia from the Drive's website that I never knew:

Macca originally wrote "The Long & Winding Road" for... Tom Jones!

and while we're in that vein, Little Steven mentioned Sun nite that Al Kooper wrote "This Diamond Ring" for the Drifters, who turned it down! And it ended up at Gary Lewis' doorstep.

Big Rick let this one spill the other day, right after my dad & I had a conversation about the original provenance of hte song "I Fought The Law".  Dad thought it was an old cowboy song.  Well according to Big Rcik it turns out to have been written by Sonny Curtis, Buddy Holly's rhythm guitarist.  Now here's the trivia:  What very popular & long-running TV sitcom did Curtis write and sing the theme song for?

Sonny turned the world on with his song: the MTM Show theme.  Ever hear Husker Du's rockin' cover version of it? (long before Joan Jett did it)
