is this Wang Chung?  also a rarity -- this is turning out to be one of Dave's most interesting mid-'80s sets.

I'm not remembering having heard this REM tune at all (on 10@10, that is).

And ditto for this Wang Chung tune. I don't know if I've ever heard it, actually.
Let's get right to it.

I was thinking the same thing.  Was struggling to ID the group, but decided it was them, just before I read your post.

lyrics had me wondering

from wikipedia:

The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking was a song released as a single by Roger Waters from the album of the same name. It was not a hit. Its meaning consists of the lasting memories of the main character, Reg. During the song, Waters mentions such popular icons as Dick Tracy, Shane, and Yoko Ono. The lyrics have been criticised as misogynistic (referring to an adulterous housewife) and racist (one line, referencing Yoko Ono's Japanese accent, says "The bitch said something mystical: 'Herro'").
Although the song is unquestionably the "catchiest" on the album (hence its choice for release as a single), its lyrics are quite oblique, particularly outside of the context of the album.

and another one we don't hear often: Bruce Cockburn, "Making Contact". If it weren't for the crappy editing earlier, this set would be a keeper.

Ah, the Cuomo "City on a Hill" clip from the 84 Democractic convention, right here in SF.

Wish I knew what skeletons kept him from accepting the nomination. If he'd run in 88 he coulda taken it to Bush Sr. bigtime.
Let's get right to it.

Wow, I didn't even catch that line. Now I'm positive it didn't get played in NYC for Yoko-related reasons.

And then the buzzer steps on the end of the Cars tune. This set, for all its nuggets, has been a tutorial on bad editing.
Let's get right to it.

I'm having no problems at all. It's killer -- Mr. Garrison's "Merry F---ing Xmas" from South Park. Brilliant.
