HA!  For years I thought "a man did he look pretty ill" was "a man, pretty looks, pretty is".

I wish someone would unearth the follow-up to "2525", "Mr Turnkey", which flopped (didn't even make the Hot 100!):

Mr Turnkey, it's 10 pm in Wichita Falls
August 16, 1969 and I'm in some bar
Mr Turnkey, I need a woman and I'm ain't getting far
I never was the kind of man a woman looked for.

But Mr Turnkey, she looked at me with flirting eyes
Mr Turnkey, she was loveier than oil lights
Mr Turnkey, she led me on, she led me on,
She knew she wasn't going to let love her.

Mr Turnkey, there's been a rape in Wichita Falls
Mr Turnkey, I'm sitting here crying in my coveralls
Mr Turnkey, I don't want to be the man I am
Mr Turnkey, I'm calling from block number 4
Mr Turnkey, you ain't never seen nothing like this before
Mr Turnkey, I nailed my wrist to your wall, I'm going home

Mr Turnkey, I'm calling from block number 4
Mr Turnkey, I ain't got the strength to call once more
Mr Turnkey, I'm crying, hanging here dying
Tell her I'm sorry
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

no wonder it flopped! :) sounds like something a punk band should remake.

BOS BBs, "I Can Hear Music", a lovely cover, rescuing one of the Ronettes lesser hits from obscurity.  (the full-blown Spector revival was still several years away at this point, despite his great production on "Black Pearl" in '69).

And kind of amazing, really -- it's virtually impossible NOT to chart with the follow-up to a single that sold millions and was #1 for 6 weeks. Especially when you get airplay on the notoriously conservative, very-short-playlist WABC, the biggest Top 40 station in the country. But they actually played it for a couple of weeks. RCA must've been tearing their hair out.

and speaking of Hair, BOS2 3DN, "Easy to be Hard".
