according to the promo, we're getting a 1989 "classic" for the holiday. So don't feel bad if you miss it...

Just got back from lunch, and apparently I'm the only person working in the entire Wall Street area apart from the convenience stores.

So it appears someone overruled 10@10 today--it's 10 past 10 and all I'm hearing is "KFOG's Rock of Ages"--somewhat of a departure from their regular playlist, and I'm honestly not sure if I'd rather be hearing a 1989 set or not.

Well, a Jack Johnson song just started, and in his case, I think I would prefer 1989.

I'm off to start my day. To those of us with the day off, enjoy your time, and to those of us still laboring away, hope your day is sufficiently quiet that you can spend some time doing otherwise besides work.

I was wondering why James Brown's "I Feel Good" was playing.

It doesn't segue well into "All the Young Dudes," in case anyone needs to know.  Think I'm headed over to Deep Tracks.

I second that emotion, tho' I'm at home so I'll tune to Oldies 1510. I'm confused -- the "variety show" on holidays doesn't usually pre-empt 10@10.  I was hoping for an '89 rerun as an excuse to not listen; unless it runs tonite that means we're getting a NEW '89 set tomorrow -- double bummer!

Earlier Renee played the Talking Heads' "This Must be the Place" as a '70s song (it's not) and said it was from Stop Making Sense (it isn't, and in any case SMS is from '84.)

I had no idea those were the lyrics.  But no, I really meant IWMTLH: "I wore high-top shoes with shirt-tails / Susie was in pig-tails / ... / You know, my papa disapproved it / My mama boo-hoo'ed it" -- I inferred class consciousness from these lines, maybe I'm imagining it to some degree?

P.S.  Saw Ray last night.  Fantastic stuff.

Glad you finally saw it; hope it was in a theater and not on DVD.

This weekend I saw 2 terrific docus -- Nomi Song, the docu about Klaus Nomi, which I highly recommend if it's still playing in NYC, and Inside Deep Throat.  Both films are interesting snapshots of their respective, overlapping eras.  Bonus: The organist at the Castro had the afternoon off, so they played Bowie's Low album before the Nomi film.

And Throat --- OMG! Wait'll you see what Andrea True looks like these days!

yeah, well that spin doctors tune doesn't exactly tug on my heart strings. but their "jimmy olsen's blues" does.

i always thought that about IWMTLH, too. i thought the suzie in pigtails was white. that's why mam was crying. she knew her boy would get lynched.
