If mark has already asked this one, I apologize, but I just came across it:

What 4 Actors are the only thesps to be nominated for playing the same character in 2 different films?

I haven't asked it before, but I have conceived of the same question, but I thought there only were two.  Now I have more thinking to do.

hint: in 3 cases the second film of the pair is a sequel. But in the other case the films are unrelated.

Harrison Ford only has one nom, which was for Witness.

One of these should be obvious, we heard a clip from him yesterday.  The other actor I know got his noms for two movies over 20 years apart & he actually won the second time around (unlike the first guy).  Also, both of them have precisely one win & in each case it was widely held to be a 'make-up' after earlier, greater achievements had gone unrewarded.

The idea that there are four such individuals still stumps me.

I can tell you've got the first 2, keep thinkin' about the others  -- If I hadn't seen this elsewhere, I'd've never gotten them either.

OK, your mention of the films being 20 years apart tipped me on one of them. Fast Eddie, yes? Otherwise, I'm clueless--but what else is new?

Okay, I stumbled across another after looking through Oscar.com, ironically my folks and I were just talking about him while driving past the house in Burlingame where I was born, as he used to live about a mile from there up in Hillborough.

The non-sequel one still has me stumped, was it for a historical figure?
