KINK, 7/20/06: Theme Thurs "Lights Camera Action!"
« on: July 20, 2006, 10:09:05 AM »
starting with Iz's very annoying cover of "Over the Rainbow".  Covers? Rainbows? 10 songs by fat dead Hawaiian guys?

(From my now-deleted post)  Not quite sure what "Lights, Camera, Action" will mean (Inessa didn't elaborate) but a very bizarre accoustic male vocal cover of "Over the Rainbow" kicks it off. Oh wait, it's just turned into a medley with "What a Wonderful World". Sounds like the guy's playing ukelele.

So who is Iz?  Did that get used in a film?

a TV show -- I wanna say "ER".  We've discussed this song and how much I hate this cover before -- maybe you were out-of-town.  Iz was a 400-pound Hawaiian singer who died of (shocker!) a heart attack.

"Rock Around the Clock"! Woo Hoo!

I had missed the intro so I guess this is indeed songs made famous in TV or movies. (I thought every Thurs was a guess-the-connection thang.)

Well I'm starting to get a real love interest going with Inessa.  Who else is gonna play all 2 minutes and 4 seconds of Bill Haley* & the Comets in a 10@10 set?

Wow, now it's BOS #3 "Aquarius"

*still to my knowledge the only significant dead rock star to have died in his sleep of natural causes.

Lovely medley, now a classic, and copied by others, even though it's a cover to begin with.

I never tire of "Everybody's talkin".  This is total musical comfort food. Inessa officially rules.
